Dyson DC59 Vs V6: What Has Changed?
There are some features of a Dyson vacuum that we come to expect – powerful suction, a balanced body, clever attachments and an eye-catching design being high among them. The DC59 series offered all of these things but now Dyson have decided that it is time for a makeover. Other than the paintwork being a new color, the basic design and features look quite similar so what have Dyson done to improve upon their vacuums?
Dyson DC59 Vs V6: Many features remain the same but the use of brushes and attachments are the stand out difference.
The basic Dyson V6 is seen as an attempt to take the Dyson DC59, simplify it and ensure that the brand has an affordable cordless stick vacuum to offset the more expensive models like those pricey, hefty Dyson Ball models. Essentially, the V6 has stripped the attachments from the DC59 Animal, created a combination tool and taken about $200 off the price to attract new buyers. The functions may be simplified here but the suction is not, as the V6 range is aptly named after the powerful V6 motor with its impressive cyclones and ability to capture particles 0.3 microns in size. On a related note, it is also interesting that these Dysons are the first to offer Hepa filtration in a cordless model for greater hygiene.

The other reason that the standard V6 is at the bottom of the range in terms of abilities and price is to counterbalance the more impressive, comprehensive Dyson V6 Absolute at the top of the line. Here Dyson have taken everything from this V6 range, and many of the plus points of the DC59 they evolved from, and created something multifunctional with a few new tricks up its sleeves. The important different between the DC59 and V6 is the use of brushes; not only does this machine have the deep driving motorized brush of the DC59 Motorhead– one that makes a bold appearance in the V6 Motorhead – the width of the head has been increased to cover a larger surface area and the Absolute has a new, additional soft roller brush. This brush is just as notable for its color as its performance and it is designed to make the vacuuming of wooden floors and other hard surfaces even easier.
Dyson V6 or DC59: is it worth the upgrades?
In the end it is definitely more about the brushes and attachments with this upgraded V6 series than anything to do with the power or suction; this range was built to showcase the new technology of the cyclonic motor and the cordless aspect and shape have merely retained their strengths and convenience. Choosing between the different cordless V6 models basically comes down to which attachments you want the most – whether you want the simplicity of the basic V6, the complete package of the Absolute with that weird roller or just the tough motorized pet tool of the V6 Animal.

The V6 range has essentially retained the power and convenience and broadened the capabilities. It is not a massive departure or revolution but rather a simple upgrade on an already popular and advantageous range and these changes should give buyers greater options and improve their cleaning experience.

Every time I use my DC59 I am amazed with the amount of dust it picks up and the ease of using a cordless vaccume. I hated draging these massive boxes behind me when I vacc.. I love it.
