In this Electrolux UltraPower Studio cordless stick vacuum EL3000A review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this model.
Pros of the Electrolux EL3000A
The Elextrolux UltraPower Studio has an ultra-powerful battery whose live is extended by careful use of the power settings. At low power, it will run a whopping sixty minutes on one charge. Many other cordless vacuums can’t last more than 25 minutes under any circumstances.
The lithium ion battery can deliver much more voltage (power) for high suction than traditional stick vacuums with nickel-cadmium batteries. At high suction, it does as good a job as corded vacuum cleaners.
The vacuum has the option to engage the brush rolls to clean carpet or turn it off to save the wear and tear on your wood floors as well as battery life.
It is highly maneuverable with a 180 degree swivel nozzle. However, turning too fast can cause the vacuum to tumble.
The unit has a self-cleaning brush-roll so you rarely have to stop and untangle pet hair or strands of dirt from it.
This cordless vacuum is lightweight, only six pounds.
The brush-roll does a fair job of removing pet hair and tangled yarn from the brush on its own. If the items do tangle on the roll, it is easy to pop out the roll to manually clear the brush roll.
Its cyclonic action means it cleans almost as well with a tank three quarters of the way full as a when it is empty.
It has LED headlights so you can see under the furniture as you go.
Electrolux batteries for this unit are replaceable; you don’t have to replace the entire vacuum when the battery dies. However, you need to be careful to fully charge it before first use and after subsequent uses so that the battery doesn’t develop a “memory” and only charge part way after that point.
The filter is easy to clean, and you can wash them by hand several times before replacing them.
The Electrolux Ultrapower vacuum’s lights are bright, letting you see under furniture instead of simply seeing the vague difference in colors after you’ve made a pass.
This vacuum is easier to push on heavy carpet than some other stick vacuums.
This vacuum works equally well on all surfaces, carpet, tile, hardwood floors and concrete.
The dust-bin is easy to take out and empty.
Cons of the Electrolux EL3000A
This cordless stick vacuum is over three hundred dollars. Its list price is $370. If you are willing to buy a refurbished one, it is around $250, though the warranty may be lost since the unit may be too old for a warranty or have passed outside of the Electrolux authorized seller/reseller network.
You can’t turn off the brush roll to extend battery life or reduce wear and tear on soft wood floors.
The handle is not as ergonomic as some other vacuum brands.
It doesn’t do a good job in corners.
Observations
This vacuum has a standard head width and maneuverability as the rival Bissell cordless vacuums.
This vacuum can’t separate the vacuum head from the stick to create an instant hand-held vacuum. However, that type of feature means there is a connector that could break, leaving you with just a hand-held vacuum.
This vacuum’s charging system is a wall mount that needs to be located near a power outlet. This storage option may not be attractive to some users.
Empty the canister after each use to avoid air kickback the next time you turn it on.
