Hoover Air Cordless Series 3.0 Vacuum BH50140 Review

In this Hoover Air cordless series 3.0 bagless upright vacuum, BH50140 review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this model. The Hoover Air vacuum cleaner costs around three hundred dollars. You can often find it for $250 to $280.

Pros of the Hoover Air Cordless 3.0

  • Hoover vacuums get high marks by Consumer Reports for their ability to clean bare floors.
  • The Hoover Air battery runs for almost an hour on a full charged battery. And power doesn’t drop off until shortly before the battery goes dead.
  • The battery level indicator will give you ample warning as the power levels drop.
  • The Hoover Air cordless vacuum comes in at less than ten pounds. It may be lighter than your hand held cordless vacuum while delivering the suction of a corded plugged in vacuum.
  • The Hoover Air cordless vacuum cleaner is easy to assemble and set up.
  • This vacuum has the same steerable head to get around furniture and curve around corners as Hoover’s upright vacuums.
  • Hoover’s filter is washable and re-usable, lowering lifetime ownership costs.
  • The dirt cup on this vacuum is large, up to a liter of capacity. And it is easy to empty the dust cup.
  • The crevice tools, brush roll and dusting tool that come with this vacuum offset the higher purchase price, since you won’t need to buy additional tools to clean everything you’d like to clean. It is necessary to unhook the hose from the bottom of the vacuum cleaner to use the cleaning wand, which may be an annoyance to some.
  • You can turn off the stiff bristled brushes when you move onto hardwood floors so the vacuum won’t scratch them up.
  • Hoover doesn’t let its assemblies sit on the shelf for ages before sending it to you. The battery may even be fully charged when you receive it.
  • This is a rather quiet vacuum cleaner.
  • Does a good job on picking up pet hair
  • The lithium batteries charge quickly. You can actually resume cleaning after a short break, instead of waiting a few hours for the batteries to recharge. On top of all this, Hoover gives you an extra battery so you could simply switch the drained battery for the one off the charger and resume cleaning.

Cons of the Hoover Air Cordless 3.0

  • The Hoover Air cordless vacuum doesn’t do as well as the Windtunnel T-series rewind vacuum. That Hoover model was a Consumer Reports best buy in the bagless upright category. Hoover has another model in the top ten of the 2014 Consumer Reports, including the Hoover Platinum Bagless UH70015.
  • Suction is best when the max power button is held down on most Hoover vacuum cleaners. However, the Hoover vacuum is limited to a single speed.
  • The high tech battery is subject to export restrictions, so you can only buy this vacuum if you live in the United States.
  • Hoover says this vacuum has three channels of cyclonic suction. However, this vacuum doesn’t have the suction strength as Hoover’s corded vacuums. It will clean up minor spills. However, it won’t get ground in dirt or deep clean a large area. It is ideal for low pile carpets and hard floors. It is not a good choice if you have thick carpets, as these will literally stop the brush roll.
  • The vacuum hose for attachments is very short. You will need to carry the vacuum cleaner around to do more than the couch right in front of you.
  • The removable canister makes it easy to vacuum stairs, using the tools that come with it.

Observations

This Hoover Air cordless series 3.0 bagless upright vacuum, BH50140 review would not be complete without a few observations that you should know about before deciding to buy this vacuum.

Hoover Air Cordless Series 3 0 Bagless , BH50140Consumer Reports says that Hoover was in the middle of the pack when it comes to vacuum reliability. Across all of the Hoover upright vacuum cleaner models, about 8% needed repair in a given year. In contrast, the most reliable model, Kirby, only had 3% need repair in a given year. Riccar and Simplicity were the worst at 11% and 12%.

If battery life is a sticking point for you, you can buy a higher grade extended life LithiumLife battery.

The LithiumLife battery promises to add 25 minutes to its runtime for an estimated hour and fifteen minutes of run time. (Hoover says the run time of its default batteries is 50 minutes.) However, this will set you back about a hundred dollars.

This vacuum cleaner is light because it is mostly made of plastic parts. You trade light weight for lighter materials, including an increased risk of broken components.

It is a good supplementary vacuum to have around your home but will not replace a corded upright vacuum cleaner that can clean large sections of floors in your home at one time. The vacuum’s run time and size make it ideal for small apartments and recreational vehicles. It works well if you rely on it for spot cleaning in cubbies and play areas.
